It’s been hit by production and logistical delays, but Ray Charles’ life and music is being re-created as a Broadway musical. Producers announced on Friday that “Unchain My Heart” will open early next year on Broadway. The musical is being produced by Stuart Benjamin, who worked with Charles for 15 years and produced “Ray,” the hit movie about the soul legend’s life. Citing “logistical reasons” for the delay, the production will open at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway, starring Brandon Victor Dixon as Charles.
