Wow, has it been that long? Pantera’s classic 1990 album Cowboys From Hell is about to be given the 20th anniversary repackaging and re-release treatment. Considered one of the finest metal albums of all time, the seminal work is being re-released on September 14th and is coming out in three editions to soak up any spare cash metal fans have lying around that month. It’ll be released with a Two-CD expanded edition, Three-CD deluxe edition (including the unreleased demo track, ‘The Will To Survive’) and a whopping Three-CD deluxe box set (including the same demo track, ‘The Will To Survive’).
Forming in 1981, the Texas group began as a glam metal band before settling into a power metal groove with vocalist Phil Anselmo and released ‘Cowboys’ after being turned down ‘28 times by every major label on the face of the Earth’ on Atco Records. The released catapulted the band into the big time before they disbanded in 2003. Any hope of a reunion was quashed after the shooting murder by a mentally unstable fan of guitarist Dimebag Darrell in December 2004, while he performed on stage with new band Damageplan in Columbus, Ohio.
