Dirty old man Bryan Ferry, who is currently dating a girl almost 40 years younger than his suave 65 year old self, is about to release a new album, entitled Olympia, which features a star studded cast of contributors.
Almost needing a band member to go around picking up the names that the album credits drop, it features contributions from members of Scissor Sisters, Radiohead, Primal Scream and Groove Armada. Showing that he’s got one of the best contact lists in the business, it also boasts Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea and Chic’s Nile Rogers. Mani from the Scream and Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead are star performers, and he also pulls in his old Roxy Music band members; guitarist Phil Manzanera, saxophonist Andy Mackay and studio whizz Brian Eno. This’ll be the first time that he’s played with all Roxy Music members since 1973.
Roxy Music are set to headline the Lovebox music festival in London this Saturday (17th July) and will be coming down under for a tour around Australia early in 2011. Olympia features eight new tracks and several covers, including Tim Buckley’s ‘Song To the Siren’ (Famously covered by This Mortal Coil) and Traffic’s ‘No Face, No Name, No Number’. First single ‘You Can Dance’ will be out on August 9th, while the album will hit iTunes and record store shelves on October 25th.
