Wednesday is never an easy day to get through, yes, once it’s over the majority of us only have two working days left, however it can be big a struggle – but what would you say if we had the perfect cure for your midweek blues?
For the very lucky folk of Melbourne, 123 Agency and Brunswick venue Howler are joining forces for a month-long residency each Wednesday that will showcase the stellar talent spilling from 123 Agency’s shining roster.
The first week sees Animaux get things rolling, the lovechild of jazz, pop, funk and soul set to bring the house down as they kick off the 123 Agency Howler takeover.
The following week brings Tash Sultana to the stage, a 19-year old roots reggae and folk inspired singer-songwriter from Melbourne. After an independently successful beginning, 2014 saw Tash Sultana release her EP Yin Yang, play regional and interstate shows, festivals, Triple J airplay and television appearances.
The young songstress has recently released her third EP Higher and has already been touted an act not to be missed, her carefully crafted, edgy fusion of multi-instrumental pieces, beat-boxing and percussion styled finger tapping guitar leaving audiences in awe.
All good things come in threes and the third week of this epic takeover is for three-piece Woodlock. The trio released their second EP Labour of Love in 2014, which made it into the top 100 in the ARIA charts, having sold around 25,000 EP’s independently. To celebrate this huge milestone, the band took off on a huge tour across the country selling out three Shebeen shows in Melbourne. With their third EP due mid-year 2015, it’s sure to be a huge year for Woodlock.
The final week of 123 Agency’s annexation of Howler beholds a very special surprise performance which won’t be announced until roughly about a week before the show, and will also be supported by My Echo.
