Sydney based indie pop outfit Francisco’s Fortune is about to release his stunning EP titled Sans Inhibitus.
The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and singer, Manik Mayadunne, Francisco’s Fortune began writing, performing and recording songs in his bedroom as a teenager, and continued to refine his art through university. Mayadunne has honed his striking live show through countless performances both locally and abroad.
It was at the beginning of 2014 that the decision was made to take time out of full-time medicine to pursue his musical career, and so Francisco’s Fortune was born. With a new alias came a new chapter of melodies and lyrics.
Mayadunne has since teamed up with ARIA-nominated sound engineer and producer Lachlan Mitchell to record his debut EP at the luscious Jungle Studios in Sydney. To celebrate the EP release, Mayadunne has given us a track by track run down of the EP which you can stream and read below. Check it out!
Magnetic Lines
Throughout our lives we will all tend to wander from place to place, yet wherever those places are, there will always be somewhere that pulls us back towards it as our home. Magnetic Lines is about following those paths back to where we feel our homes and our hearts are.
Ma Cherie
An Australian boy meets a French girl at a bus stop. She is beautiful and mysterious and intriguing, but only so much can be said when one speaks English and the other Francais. And so he delivers to her his stories of the Eiffel Tower, and escargot, and a long list of other French cliches; lying through his teeth as long as it would keep her speaking to him.
Lunar
What is it like inside the head of a madman standing on a busy city street corner, singing his lungs out to the world? This is my guess.
Only Photos
As a second generation immigrant I have been a long way from my grandparents for much of my life, but this has never reduced the gratitude I have felt towards them for the sacrifices they made years and years ago to allow me the comforts that I have today. This is to say thanks from across the ocean.
The Bells
This is the story of two people embarking upon one promising and exciting journey, and finding their paths going their own separate ways when time and distance push them apart.
