The Easter long weekend was chock-full of musical activities, whether it be cult favourite Boogie Festival or the up-and-coming electronic outing Inner Varnika not to mention the myriad of killer gigs across the nation – however none really stand up to the Mecca of the north, Bluesfest, which has already seen some brilliant footage surface online.

Despite last minute troubles with headliners pulling out, the Byron Bay extravaganza yet again stunned punters with its incredibly expansive lineup, with Aussie band Sticky Fingers dazzling both fans and security with their dizzying and infectious reggae infused pop jams which actually resulted in the frontman being confused for a fan by security and being taken to the ground.

The band posted a vid during their performance of ‘Just For You’ which saw lead vocalist Dylan Frost stage-dive into the pit, only to be taken down by security who actually confused the singer for a manic fan.

After an outcry from fans and a definite shock of realisation, the guard realises what a case of mistaken identity he’s made as a slightly battered Frost jumps back onstage as he jokingly laughs “praise this fuckin’ dickhead down there” before getting on with the show.

Sticky Fingers, who are pretty jovial dudes, threw the video on Facebook to have a bit of a joke – posting the following: “Security wrestlin’ Diz midshow at Bluesfest, being mistaken for a mad punter after a stage dive. Mr Guardman turned out to be a lovely bloke and was heaps apologetic, but what a laugh!”

Thankfully, neither Frost nor the security guard have suffered any injury, this being a much more friendlier security scuffle than we’ve seen already this year with The Smith Street Band and Tonight Alive at Soundwave.

Check out the fan-filmed footage below, it’s pretty hilarious:
