We’ve seen some pretty interesting festival promotion campaigns this year, from releasing addictive video games to discovering lineups by calling a special hotline – however none of these compare to the very simple and very hilarious video for West Australia’s Camp Doogs.
Easily the greatest thing to surface on the internet this week, the mysterious music festival has enlisted two Aussie cult figures who just released a children’s book together, Amber Fresh and Nicholas Allbrook (solo/POND/Allbrook/Avery/Mink Mussel Creek/Peter Bibby’s drummer/former Tame Impala bassist/all-round adored legend) to teach punters some very important camping tips.
The brilliant three and-a-half clip sees the pair bounce their deadpan hilarity off one another as they attempt to teach watchers how to setup a tent, which results in Allbrook being rolled up into something like a tent doobie, which, speaking of, Allbrook also notes that he’ll let y’all know how to “cook a billie…with tea.”

They warn of the types of wildlife one might find when out and about in the Aussie wilderness which somehow sees Fresh touching Allbrook’s eyeballs, as well as providing some very important messages such as keeping your campsite clean as well as the necessity of having such things as unicorns to ensure you can start a campfire, so long as you lick it in the eye.
For those of you that don’t know, Camp Doogs is an incredible music festival held a few hours outside of Perth. It possess that same kind of dedicated cult following akin to that of Meredith or Golden Plains, and like the Victorian festivals, it too is the ultimate anti-sell out event, encouraging punters to bring their own booze, food and open-minds for three days and two nights of music and arts.
Camp Doogs will be holding a fundraiser for Camp Doogs this May 6th at the Bakery, Perth and will be headlined by Nicholas Allbrook, Kirin J. Callinan, Catlips, Eleventeen Eston & The Conversation and more. For more info jump over to their Facebook.
