Back with the next taste from their forthcoming debut EP, 28 Mansions, Flower Drums have dropped synth-blues nocturne ‘End ll End’. Following a slot at last year’s Laneway Festival, a WAM nomination and a tour across the US, the percussive petals have slowed their sound in the latest track for an intimate but expansive feel. 28 Mansions is due for release next month, and, not content to stay put, the four piece are taking it to the road on a national tour.

The track follows ‘Bad Websites’ and ‘Don’t Wait’ ft. St. South, and was not always supposed be their stripped back counterpart. Says the band, ‘‘End II End’ was originally written with the intention to create something heavier than the generally smooth Flower Drums sound. The initial track, written and recorded in two nights, was filled with tom heavy jungle beats, but after several mixes we decided to do a complete rework of the track and approach it as though we were doing a future soul / remix and the result just felt right’.

Sitting contentedly amid electronica and dream-pop and within the dark, hypnotic and warm layers of analog synths, Flower Drums were Unearthed by Triple J, winning a spot to play St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2014 and having their single ‘Birthday Girl’ added to spot rotation on the station. They then headed to the US for a run of dates, including shows supporting Magic Wands, Steed Lord and Sun Club. 2014 also saw Flower Drums pick up a nomination for ‘BEST POP ACT’ at the 2014 WAM awards, support Snakadaktal, Chela, Client Liaison and more.
