Last month, we reported on a recent performance featuring Noel Gallagher, during which the former Oasis chief taught a band who tried to hand him a demo during the gig a few lessons about life, i.e. don’t hand Noel Gallagher a demo CD in the middle of his performance.
Gallagher handled the whole thing with his characteristic good humour, but still launched into a ball-busting rant about the lousy job the muso is doing of promoting himself, making light of the fact that he tried to hand him a CD with no name or contact information on it.
However, Gallagher wasn’t so tongue-in-cheek with a heckler at a recent show in Cork, Ireland. In fact, he decided to show the whole world why you can have a laugh with the bloke who wrote ‘Wonderwall’, but if you try to heckle him, he will lay the smack-down on you.
As Gallagher was in between songs, one ill-advised troll in the crowd decided to yell out, “Where’s Liam?” in reference to the songwriter’s younger brother, who fronted Oasis and with whom the senior Gallagher has a somewhat fractious relationship (Oasis dissolved after the two came to blows before a gig).
After bringing the heckler to the attention of the audience and repeating what he said, much to the crowd’s chagrin, Gallagher retorted, “Liam’s at home looking at himself in the mirror. Fortunately he’s still not as big of a cunt as you are. Imagine that!”
Australian fans ought to take heed to this warning when the man himself embarks on his Australian tour next year. Speaking recently to NME, Gallagher revealed he would be embarking on another world tour after Christmas, which will include a trip Down Under.
