Marshall is the company famous for making arguably the most iconic guitar amplifiers in existence. Their immortal stacks have stood tall alongside rock gods for decades and have long been the amp of choice for professional face-melters the world over.

However, the company has now decided to branch out. They’ll still be melting plenty of faces, but they’ll be doing it from the palms of people’s hands and not from the stages of arenas and clubs around the world. Yes, Marshall is entering the smartphone market.

As Billboard reports, the amp company recently announced their new phone product during an event in London. The Marshall London, as it’s called, has two front-facing speakers, a pair of headphone jacks, and a custom app for recording music on the go.

It’s basically the music-maker’s smartphone and it’s all part of Marshall’s plans for diversification. In recent years, the company has begun making leather-clad bluetooth speakers and headphones, all marked by that iconic Marshall logo.

The company prematurely posted details of the Android model phone on its website before removing them ahead of its launch last Thursday afternoon, with several tech sites nabbing the info before it disappeared.

The specs include a faux-leather finish, a 4.7-inch, 720p display, and a classic Marshall gold scroll on the side for volume. The audiophiles out there will be in heaven, as the phone has a hifi-grade sound card and is equipped for the playback of lossless FLAC files.

Musicians are catered for with the two microphones installed on the device for easy recording and the London will come equipped with custom apps to help with recording sessions, an app that combines all of your music sources, and a global EQ feature.

Storage-wise, the London boasts 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage and yes, there is a camera, so you can take plenty of selfies as you record. The Marshall London is set for release on 21st August with a price tag of about $590.
