Tone Deaf recently announced the stacked lineup for the inaugural Between The Hills music festival, but just one week after the new boutique Aussie event was announced, organisers have confirmed the festival is undertaking a rebrand.
“The festival formally know as ’Between The Hills’ has been reimagined as ‘Panacea’ to avoid any confusion with existing The Hills Are Alive/NYE on the Hill festival brands,” organisers write in a statement.
Between The Hills, a new event taking place in the scenic surrounds of Riverview in Tatong in north eastern Victoria, features a diverse lineup of local acts, including The Delta Riggs, Drunk Mums, and Tijuana Cartel.
However, the festival’s “hill-oriented namesake” cocked the ears of the organisers of fellow Victorian festival event The Hills Are Alive, who also run the end-of-year celebration NYE On The Hill.
The latter organisers raised some concerns regarding the similar-sounding branding and after “a coffee, a few laughs and much talking shop”, the two groups agreed that their respective event names were too similar.
“It came to our attention that some were of the belief that it was The Hills Are Alive team at the helm of our festival, which is not something we had previously anticipated,” says Panacea organiser Chloe Foster.
“It was a genuine oversight, we had no intention to clash with the Hills’ branding their team have worked tirelessly to create.”
Between The Hills organisers decided it would be best to change their name before the inaugural event this November and keep the focus on the core of the festival: collaboration, a natural aesthetic, fundraising, and sustainability.

“In a moment, Panacea was born,” organisers write and the new brand has already received an endorsement from the organisers of The Hills Are Alive.
“We really get behind the ethos of the event and are super-supportive that they’ve created a new platform for Australian talent,” they write. “They’ve put together an amazing lineup and it will no doubt be a very special few days.”
Panacea will take place in Riverview this November, a majestic area filled with native wildlife and Australian bush vegetation. “The hills are grand, the little river is super pretty and the grass… well it feels like carpet,” say organisers.
