Earlier this week we reported on a new event set to take place in Adelaide this December dubbed F@#k Stereo’s // Let’s Rock, which is being promoted as an anti-Stereosonic festival, taking place on the same day that Stereosonic Adelaide goes down.

The unofficial companion gig will take over Adelaide’s Fowlers Live, with a lineup of interstate and local favourites, each one of them decidedly un-Stereo, including Shihad frontman Jon Toogood, The Love Junkies, Flyying Colours, and more.

The folks over at Stereosonic certainly aren’t happy about it. According to a post on F@#k Stereo’s // Let’s Rock’s Facebook event page, Stereo organisers complained to ticket provider Moshtix that the event’s name clashed with theirs.

But now the event has attracted another vocal critic, none other than one Lindsay “The Doctor” McDougall, former triple j drive time personality and guitarist for Australian punk veterans Frenzal Rhomb, who recently gave the whole thing a bit of a “Now hold on here.”

“Just double checking,” McDougall wrote on the Facebook event page for the festival. “The same touring company who’s putting this on (and is apparently so anti-electronic music) is also putting on the all-electronic Full Moon Party Music Festival at Rymill Park?”

Indeed, the Full Moon Party Music Festival, which takes place in Adelaide next month and is also presented by Noble Events & Touring, features an entirely electronic lineup, including Havanna Brown, Marlo, Goodwill, Brooklyn, and more.

Now, to be fair, promoters throw their weight behind all sorts of gigs, whether they be rock, electronic, country, or otherwise. So it’s not such a big deal for the same promoter to work on both a rock event and an electronic festival.

Except, NOBLE Events & Touring are listed as the host of the event on Facebook, suggesting F@#k Stereo’s is entirely their concept. Furthermore, they bill the event in their description as, “For those among us who prefer original live music.”

Whether you want to call hypocrisy is really up to you, but the promoters didn’t try to front. “That’s correct Lindsay,” they replied, “your powers of deduction are astounding good sir. We love EDM too, particularly progressive and deep house + dirty electro.”

Readers can check out the full lineup, dates, and ticketing details for F@#k Stereo’s // Let’s Rock below. Joining the aforementioned acts will be Sydney boys Lepers & Crooks, as well as some local muscle in the form of Mere Machine, Sons Of Zoku, and Slick Arnold.
