Last week we announced the incredibly exciting news that local hip-hop favourites Remi and Sensible J, the team behind last year’s Australian Music Prize-winning album Raw X Infinity announced the the birth of their own record label, House of Beige Records.
“It’s been a long time coming. Most people know that we released our own album ‘Raw X Infinity’ under House of Beige but to now be able to recognize and release other people’s music that we love is a long-term dream come true,” said Sensible J.
Well today sees the guys unveil the first release from the label, Hau’s debut solo effort The No End Theory and it’s an absolute killer. Having fronted legendary ARIA award-winning duo Koolism, and holding the reigns as the presenter and producer of the Hip- Hop Show on triple j for the past seven years, Hau is an icon of the Aussie hip hop scene.
The No End Theory is a culmination of Hau’s experiences and talent. To produce this LP he’s pulled together an impressive list guest artists including Che Fu, Oddisee, DJ Dexter, P-Money, Ngaiire and exciting new talent, LTC. Melbourne producers Sensible J & Dutch (Award winning Remi and N’fa Jones) have carved out a very unique production soundscape that serves as a great foundation for HAU to flex his experienced vocals.
For old fans of Koolism, or new listeners just discovering Hau, this record is bound to capture a lot of attention. Hau explains his feelings about the record “I’m extremely stoked about this release because this is the album I’ve always wanted to make. I had a vision for it and J & Dutch helped me turn ideas, as wacky as some were, into a reality. And on top of that, having them to then put the album out through their label is just so fitting. It’s an honour to be the first cab off the rank. I’m super excited by the whole affair”.
