5 Seconds of Summer were probably feeling on top of the world after nabbing their second consecutive Number 1 album in the US with their latest effort, Sounds Good Feels Good, exceeding the sales expectations of industry forecasters.
However, it all came crashing back down to earth for guitarist Michael Clifford, who took a serious dive as the band performed at the Radio 1 Teen Awards in London on Sunday. Clifford can be seen jumping early in footage of the performance but landing offstage.
The guitarist later took to Twitter to laugh off the injury, writing, “I was looking at Rita Ora and I was like … hey … and I fell.” Clifford tweeted that he will be on crutches for “the next few days” but reassured fans he’s “all good” otherwise.
“Wembley arena doesn’t like me much,” Clifford later added, referring to another incident when the injury-prone guitarist received some nasty burns after a close encounter with some pyrotechnics during the band’s own Wembley gig.
