Just a day after announcing a spate of new addition to their lineup thanks to triple j Unearthed, the organisers of St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2016 have confirmed the cancellation of one of their most eagerly anticipated acts.
“We’re sad to announce that, due to conflicting commitments with his songwriting and recording obligations, Tobias Jesso Jr. is no longer able to perform at the 2016 Laneway Festival in Aus/NZ/SG or scheduled sideshows,” a statement reads.
“We are extremely excited to let you know that replacing him for all Australian dates are underground punk legends Royal Headache! We also have courtney barnett stepping in for Auckland with The 1975 having already been announced for Singapore!”
In a statement to fans, Tobias Jesso Jr, who received widespread critical acclaim for his debut album released back in March, wrote, “I’m sorry to let anyone down, and appreciate all of your love, support, and understanding.”
