Silver Raven Festival is the latest addition to Australia’s bustling boutique festival scene. This exciting new event features a heavily tinged Americana lineup set to thrill crowds in the scenic surrounds of the Barossa Valley.

The lineup is topped by acclaimed singer-songwriter Jason Isbell, whose fifth album, Something More Than Free, was recently named in the top 10 of Rolling Stone magazine’s best albums of 2015 countdown.

Joining Isbell will be the “female Johnny Cash reincarnate” Eilen Jewell, blues crew Endless Boogie, homegrown favourites The Audreys performing their last ever show, local rock prospects Bad//Dreems, and many more.

“This lineup is all about quality over quantity: From arguably one of the finest songwriters of our generation, Jason Isbell, to the absolutely stunning songbird Eilen Jewell playing alongside some of Adelaide – and the world’s – great musicians,” said music programmer Dan Crannitch.

“And what a special way to farewell one of Adelaide’s most beloved bands, The Audreys.” What a way indeed. In addition to a sublime music lineup, Silver Raven will also boast excellent food offerings from The Happy Motel.

“Adelaide innately knows quality in their food, wine, music and environments. We’re lucky enough to have some of the world’s best in all those areas. We wanted to create an event where our community can enjoy all this in one perfect day,” said Silver Raven director Alex Schulz.

Silver Raven Festival is a shining beacon of hope for Adelaide’s festival scene, which has been hit hard in recent times as a result of the disappearance of several flagship events including Big Day Out, Gorgeous Festival, and Soundwave.

As The Advertiser notes, just as Adelaide’s burgeoning small bar and club scene has managed to inject some life back into the the SA capital’s CBD, boutique festivals like Silver Raven are propping up the city’s live music scene.

Despite recently being recognised by UNESCO as a designated city of music, Adelaide’s music scene has faced several other tumults, including an increasingly desperate situation for beloved broadcaster Radio Adelaide.
