Local indie rockers A.D.K.O.B are gearing up to tour the country in celebration of their new single and video ‘Ghost’ a follow on from their impressive EP A Different Kind Of Busy which was met with critical acclaim.

From supporting Sydney legends Sticky Fingers at their sold-out homecoming show at the Enmore Theatre, dropping killer local gems and touring relentlessly A.D.K.O.B are undoubtedly a band you’ll be hearing a lot more from in the not too distant future.

Ahead of their national tour, the band’s have curated a mini-mixtape featuring some of their most treasured song writing inspirations, check it out below and if you like what you’re hearing be sure to visit the band’s Facebook page for more info.

The Supremes – ‘Come See About Me’

I absolutely adore the sound of the rhythm section on this song. So understated yet right up there in the mix with the vocals. I always try (and often fail) to replicate drum sounds like this.

GZA/Genius – ‘Liquid Swords’

One of my favourite records. The aesthetic is so truly DARK, and the mood is set so perfectly by the introduction track. It never stops pulling you through what feels like a cold, empty city where danger beckons at every turn. Hugely inspired by the production, and the only record that would make me consider doing a ‘concept’ album.

Grizzly Bear – ‘Veckatimest’

A record that truly floored me when I first heard it. A bands whos endlessly creative production prowess never ceases to impress me. Kings of ‘context’ – putting sounds together that shouldn’t work but do, flawlessly. I am always inspired by these guys to try instruments and sounds I have not.

The Microphones – ‘The Glow pt. II’

The number one band that reminds me that you can do ANYTHING… ANNYYTHING you want with your songs.

A bizarre record which flips on its head, time and time again. Hard Rock, singer-songwriter, experimental indie and back to hard rock… all in about 50 seconds. A fascinating listen, and when it works, it really works. A big inspiration, particularly in arrangement.
