Yoko Ono is gearing up for a series of events she has planned in Iceland to mark what would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday on October 9th. She’s planning to mark the date by lighting the Imagine Peace Tower illuminated memorial, which was built on the island of Vioey offshore from the capital of Reykjavik. She’s then threatening to serenade the local penguins and puffins with a special performance by her Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band, in which her singing bears a striking resemblance to the mating calls of the local wildlife. Lennon was shot dead by a deranged fan outside his Manhattan apartment on December 8th 1980.
