This morning we have for you an elaborate doggy-themed narrative from Brissy songwriter beneb, a whimsical clip that tackles some heavy themes in adorable fashion over beneb’s warped, melodic rock.
“’What’s Going On’ is about coming out of the church and into the new world,” beneb explains, “and seeing everything that was ‘spoken over/prophetically’ and going well shit, what the fuck is going on really? Shit is unreal and unbelievable. The new one is a theme park and one of infinite possibilities. The previous one was controlled and brainwashed.
“I was a slave doge, who was on a leash to his master/owner and then when he searched for him he wasn’t there until he finally found him and it wasn’t what he expected it. Then he was just back at the beginning again That ‘no need to get excited’ part is kind of like saying fuck hope, we’re all gonna die really, it’s gonna be tough.”
Thankfully, it’s not all bad, and beneb manages to find some canine-esque optimism.
“But then you find people you like and you’re like fuck it, you’re cool let’s chill for life. Your perspective on life changes (for the better). Essentially it’s like being born again, but into a human being.”
