It’s been two years since Foals released What Went Down, an album that sent Aussie fans on a wild treasure hunt to pick up an advance copy. Now, it looks like the band are starting work on their long-awaited fifth record.
Taking to Instagram earlier today, frontman Yannis Philippakis shared an image of himself with bags full of flowers, with a caption stating “Off to write the next record brb.”
As NME notes, Philippakis had hinted towards the recording of a new album back in July: “We’re in the marinating stage of thinking about getting onto the next record,” he said. “We have a couple of bits written but it’s in the very early stages. We’re in the conception stage, we’re not pregnant yet, we’re just trying to have the kid.”
Foals were most recently in town for the 2015 Falls Festival, so we’re hoping that a new Foals record will result in another Aussie tour for the English lads. After all, their last tour involved an absolutely mind-blowing Like A Version performance, as well as a rare free show with Disclosure in Sydney. How could they possibly top that?
While we wait for Foals to trot out the new record, reacquaint yourself with the classic ‘Mountain At My Gates’ below.
