Pixies’ front man Frank Black has revealed that a new rock opera which is based around his music will be having its premiere in November. The production will be unveiled at the Catastrophic Theatre in Houston, Texas, and is entitled Bluefinger: The Fall and Rise of Herman Brood. Using songs from Black’s 2007 solo album Bluefinger, the opera tells the story of the life and death of the Dutch performer Herman Brood. Brood jumped to his death from the roof of the Amsterdam Hilton in 2001. The opera also uses some of Black’s moments of inspiration for the album to create a work features two live bands which perform 20 songs from his back catalogue. Should you happen to be in downtown Houston, the show runs until 18th December.
