We’re on the home stretch now, with Bluesfest only a week away from kicking off. But are you one of the unlucky punters who won’t be able to make it up to Byron Bay for this year’s festivities? Well fear not, because Double J are set to bring you a special live broadcast from the festival on Good Friday.
The 2018 edition of Bluesfest is set to kick off next Thursday, on March 29th, and will be running until April 2nd, bringing with it five days of stellar musical icons who will be performing some of the best sets you’ve ever heard.
Of course, Bluesfest realises that not everyone will be able to make it up for this year’s event, so they’ve teamed up with Double J to bring a special two-hour live presentation straight to you!
Yes, from 5pm at the festival’s Juke Joint stage, Double J Mornings host Zan Rowe will be teaming up with ABC Gold Coast’s Nicole Dyer to deliver a mesmerising mix of music and interviews from some of the finest acts at this year’s fest. With appearances from Jimmy Cliff, Michael Franti, Mia Dyson, All Our Exes Live In Texas, Hurray For The Riff Raff, and Benny Walker, this is set to be must-hear radio, so make sure you clear your schedule!
The broadcast will be heard via Double J, as well as ABC Gold Coast and ABC Sunshine Coast, while ABC Local Radio will also be replaying the show on Sunday, April 1st at 7pm.
Double J’s appearance at the festival will also see the beloved station taking along their live music team to record sets from some of the brilliant acts performing over the long weekend, which you’ll undoubtedly hear throughout the year.
Tickets to Bluesfest are still on sale now, but be quick, because passes to Sunday’s performances are looking pretty close to a sell-out! You can also begin to plan your day, with the full list of playing times here.
