The disaffection with Weezer by their one-time loyal fans has reached breaking point after their last two albums failed dismally to impress. Seattle resident James Burns has created a campaign to try and raise $10 million dollars to persuade Weezer to stop making music altogether for the sanity of Weezer fans worldwide.

However, in an interview with The Stranger, he admitted he’s never been a fan, but is lanching this campaign on behalf, saying “I think that they are pretty much horrible, and always have been. Even in the early ’90s.” and stated that the endless album-release circus and the fizzling enthusiasm “… is an abusive relationship, and it needs to stop now.”

The sad thing is that it doesn’t seem like Burns is joking, and estimates that if everyone who purchased ‘Pinkerton’ put it $12, they would have reached the target. Aren’t there more worthy causes in the world, like abolishing auto-tune and taking out Mel Gibson?
