Warning: This article details instances of physical and mental abuse
Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo has been accused of assaulting and mentally abusing his wife Jenn DeLeo, as uncovered in recent divorce documents. According to Consequence Of Sound, Jenn described Dean as being a “violent drug and alcohol addict who has abused his children and wives (including his ex) for years.”
The pair filed for divorce after Dean reportedly made violent threats towards Jenn after confessing to extramarital affairs. Trouble began to stir in the pair’s relationship after the birth of their daughter June in 2012, in which Dean began to abuse drugs and alcohol. In documents acquired by TMZ, DeLeo was apparently once “completely inebriated” taking then baby June into the ocean, almost letting her drown.
Accusations have also surfaced against Dean from a previous marriage, in which he made threats to have his ex-wife killed.
Dean also threatened to kill himself if Jenn left him, going so far as to invoke the name and suicide of their mutual friend, Chester Bennington.
Jenn has recently taken to Twitter to publically acknowledge the claims, saying “I want to give a shout out to anyone who’s in a domestic violence situation! It’s not your fault for staying so long. Please find the strength to leave. Once you do it’s beautiful.”
“I was in one with #Deandeleo for the past 8 years!!!”

DeLeo was a founding member of Stone Temple Pilots, playing with the band throughout the entirety of their career and played on their hugely successful albums including Core and Purple. Stone Temple Pilots released their seventh studio album with new vocalist Jeff Gutt on March 16.
