An ex-member of American post-grunge act 3 Doors Down is facing extra jail time after being accused of bringing drugs into a correctional facility.

Back in 2013, 3 Doors Down parted ways with founding bassist Todd Harrell after he was charged with vehicular homicide. The incident in question involved Harrell allegedly speeding while under the influence of prescription medication, resulting in the death of a 47-year-old man.

While Harrell was sentenced to two years imprisonment in late 2015, he was arrested again in June of this year on drug, firearm and domestic violence charges, and was sent back to jail after being found in violation of his parole.

Now, as the Sun Herald reports, Harrell is now facing extra jail time after drugs were found during a screening of incoming mail into the Jackson County Jail, where he is currently serving time.

While Sheriff Mike Ezell revealed that Harrell had indeed been arrested over this incident, they did not say what sort of drugs were being brought into the prison, or how he may have managed to do so.

If convicted of this new charge, Harrell could receive an additional prison sentence of seven years.

This news is just the latest in a series of troubles that have plagued the 3 Doors Down name over the last few years.

Back in 2016, founding guitarist Matt Roberts – who had left the band in 2012 – was found dead of an apparent overdose of prescription medication at age 38. Then, in early 2017, the group attracted widespread criticism for their decision to serve as one of the main acts performing at Donald Trump’s Presidential inauguration ceremony.
