One of the most infamous and influential punk bands of all time, the Dead Kennedys, are set to return to Aussie shores later this year, with the band dropping a series of tour dates earlier today.
First forming back in 1978, the Dead Kennedys quickly rose to prominence in the world of punk music thanks to their outspoken political views, blistering tunes, and with their outrage-provoking behaviour. From their name alone, to their artwork, and even to their song titles, which included tracks such as ‘Nazi Punks Fuck Off‘, ‘Holiday In Cambodia’, and ‘Too Drunk To Fuck’, the group flirted with controversy wherever they went.
Heading to Australia in 1983 at the height of their fame, the group proved their worth as one of the most dangerous groups going around. But unfortunately, the punk scene became too much for the group, and after finding themselves alienated from their own audiences, they called it quits back in 1986.
However, after spending the latter part of the ’90s stuck in a royalties lawsuit, the group decided to reform, albeit without their iconic frontman Jello Biafra. Following a couple of Aussie tours back in 2011 and 2014, the group have decided to grace us with their presence once again.
Kicking off at the Metro Theatre in Sydney this November, the group are set to hit up Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane, delivering their razor-sharp political commentary, mixed with the energy and ferocity that they’re known for.
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, August 10th, so be sure not to miss the chance to see one of the most influential punk groups of all time when they head our way in November.
