It’s one of the biggest collaborations we’ve seen on Aussie soil recently, with international musical icon Céline Dion bringing out a special guest for last night’s Melbourne show: none other than John Farnham himself.

Just last week, Céline Dion hit up Sydney where she delivered a pretty stunning performance of John Farnham’s 1986 hit, ‘You’re The Voice’.

A noted fan of the track, Dion had trouble getting through the performance due to her excitement, and actually had to briefly stop herself. Needless to say, it was quite endearing.

Now, she’s gone one better, bringing out Whispering Jack himself for a duet of the legendary track.

Halfway through her final show of her Aussie tour at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena last night, Céline Dion jumped into a performance of the track, expressing her love of the song, and explaining how she’s always wanted to perform the song live.

Following her performance of the song’s first verse and chorus, John Farnham strode casually onto the stage, lending his voice to the track as rapturous applause filled the stadium.

Taking to Facebook early this morning, Dion shared her gratitude at being able to perform the track with Aussie icon.

“I’ve wanted to sing John Farnham’s ‘You’re The Voice’ on my tours for so many years, and it’s been so great to finally do it on this tour,” she wrote. “But I still can’t believe that I got to perform it with the one-and-only, John Farnham!”

“I will never forget this, the thrill of a lifetime. John, thank you for your incredible talent, you’re amazing.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time that John Farnham has teamed up with an international act to perform the track, having played the track live with Coldplay at the 2009 Sound Relief concert.

While some will undoubtedly criticise an artist such as Céline Dion for tackling a classic piece of Aussie music such as this, we have to at least praise her for actually knowing all the words to the song, unlike our own Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull.
