Double J are celebrating the 90s for the whole of September. Throwing it back to tunes of decades past, they’ve celebrated the iconic era in style by tackling the near-impossible task of listing the 50 greatest albums released during that iconic era of Australian music.
There’s at least one (or ten) seminal records for most music fans around the country, and it really highlights how much Australian music has changed over the last twenty-plus years.
Powderfinger‘s ‘Internationalist‘ topped the list, which fittingly comes just weeks after the band announced a 20th anniversary deluxe re-release of the iconic record. Other artists who make an appearance include You Am I, Midnight Oil, Spiderbait, The Living End, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and even pop princess Kylie Minogue.
Dan Condon, Double J Music Editor, says “We had some help, of course. You let us know the albums you felt strongest about and we made those responses a key part of our decision-making process. It didn’t exactly make it easier, but we’re hoping it has made it better.”
