Earlier this week, a photo emerged of a group of male, predominantly white Wisconsin high school students raising their arms in what appears to be a Nazi salute.
The photo of the students of Baraboo High School was originally posted on the @GoBaraboo account with the caption “We even got the black kid to throw it up.” It swiftly went viral and consequently sparked an investigation by police and the school district. The original post has since been deleted.
The photograph was reportedly taken before prom. Jordan Blue, the one student featured in the photograph that didn’t participate in the salute has issued a statement about the incident.
Blue shared “I truly & firmly believe we need to make a change to this horrible act, it needs to stop. Bullying, immaturity and just taking things as a joke”.
I spoke with the only student who is visibly not comfortable with the “salute”, he provided this statement. pic.twitter.com/HbNBc8xLOK

Since going viral, the photo has attracted a fair share of criticism from a number of figures. One of the most impassioned responses is that of Robb Flynn from Machine Head. Flynn took to Instagram to lambast those who participated in the antisemitic photograph. Writing “Fuck these little brain-donor-shit-heads, and fuck the photographer who “encouraged” them! Trump and his cronies have legitimized white nationalism, and white supremacy”. Read his entire statement below:
This is not the first time Robb Flynn has been outspoken about racism. Back in 2016, he published a lengthy video on the Machine Head Youtube account, addressing racism in metal music. Watch it below.
