Beyoncé and Parkwood Entertainment will face a class action lawsuit over claims the artist’s website doesn’t offer equal access for the visually impaired. New Yorker Mary Connor – who is blind – filed the lawsuit yesterday claiming the site violates the act by offering an “exclusively visual interface”.
Pitchfork reports the complaint reads “Plaintiff dreams of attending a Beyoncé concert and listening to her music in a live setting, … However, when she browsed the Beyonce.com website, she encountered numerous barriers which limited her accessibility to the goods and services offered on the website.”

The lawsuit also cites a lack of drop down menus, coded alt-text, and the inability to use a keyboard instead of a mouse. On top of this, it references “all legally blind individuals in the United States who have attempted to access Beyonce.com and as a result have been denied access to the enjoyment of goods and services offered by Beyonce.com, during the relevant statutory period.”

Last September, Bey’s ex-drummer filed for a restraining order against the singer, accusing her of “extreme witchcraft” and “magic spells of sexual molestation”. 2018 saw the icon headline Coachella, performing possibly the greatest festival set in history (No hyperbole necessary), and head off on a massive stadium tour alongside her husband Jay-Z.
