Get ready for a lesson in what Aussie rock is supposed to sound like, with Ed Kuepper’s The Aints! announcing both a new mini-album, and a run of national tour dates.

Last year, we finally saw the return of The Aints! to the studio. Releasing their first album since 1992, the group topped off this announcement with a run of Aussie shows, delighting audiences everywhere in the process.

Having first formed in the early ’90s as way for Ed Kuepper to recreate the noisy punk-rock of his time in The Saints, this newly-formed iteration of the group was a welcome return to the Aussie stage.

However, once the album was released and the touring was done, fans were left wondering what the future may hold. Will there be another 26-year gap between albums? Or would we be about to witness a prolific period for the group.

Now, 42 years after The Saints released their 1-2-3-4 EP, The Aints! are set to continue the trend, announcing the release of their 5-6-7-8-9 mini-album.

Featuring alternate versions of album tracks, this five-song release includes an acoustic version of ‘Country Song In G’, the single edit of ‘Goodnight Ladies’, plus reworked versions of classics from Ed Kuepper’s back catalogue.

Featuring versions of The Saints’ ‘Memories Are Made Of This’, the Laughing Clowns’ ‘Laughing Clowns’, and ‘Hang Jean Lee’, from Kuepper’s time with The Kowalski Collective, this new release is set to be a career-spanning retrospective, delivered with the force and intensity that only The Aints! can bring.

To celebrate the new release, The Aints! will be hitting the road this June. Kicking off with three sets at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne, the group will travel along to Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Kingscliff, Sydney, and Canberra.

Melbourne fans will also score a solo show from Ed Kuepper at the Caravan Music Club. Eamon Dilworth will serve as support for this gig, turning up with Colonel Kramer for the performances in the Sunshine Coast and Kingscliff.

Meanwhile, The Aints!’ Brisbane show will see Blank Realm serving as the support act. However, if you’re feeling hard done by with no announcement of supports for the Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra shows, keep in mind that the group will be performing multiple sets at these select shows.

Tickets to The Aints!’ Australian tour go on sale Wednesday, April 10th, while pre-orders for the new record are available now.
