I’m sure there are a slew of Australian performers you’ve always known, but just can’t remember who they were. You know, you’ve got your Reece Mastins, your Samantha Jades – but there’s one name that should stand out to you: Timomatic.
This guy entered into the global reality franchise talent contest Australia’s Got Talent in 2011, eight years ago. But, prior to that, you mightn’t have known he was actually a finalist on So You Think You Can Dance in its second season, in 2009.
Let’s be real, folks: is there much old mate Timomatic can’t do. Let’s go back and take a look at some of Tim Omaji’s best moments.
5. So You Think You Can Dance, 2009
Now, unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be too much in the way of online footage of this golden step back in time. But, what we can tell you is Timomatic entered the national dance show’s second season in 2009. He danced his way through all rounds, until he made it to the finals. It was then he was crowned as the eighth placer in the series.
4. Fame: The Musical, 2010
After a stunning stint in SYTYCD Australia, the dancer and singer then went on to star in the Australian production of esteemed musical Fame. Later, he withdrew from his role in the production, due to a “back injury.” I’d kill to see Timomatic in a musical theatre context. Ugh.

3. Australia’s Got Talent, 2011
Timomatic entered the global franchise talent series Australia’s Got Talent in 2011. This was not too long after he left his role in Fame, and he left as he realised he was “more than just a dancer.”
In a Herald Sun interview, he cited entering in that competition as a better opportunity than rival reality series X-Factor, as he would have more control, especially in areas like style and musicianship. The season progressed, and the performer left his AGT legacy in third place, just a couple of places behind young singer Jack Vidgen.

2. Supporting tours since reality TV, 2012-present
In the last seven years, Timomatic has been hitting the tour circuit pretty darn hard, good onya Tim. Those years have included shows with Pitbull, Nicki Minaj and Salt-n-Pepa across the country. As well as this, he’s No. 1 in my books. I love this guy.
1. Name change [and name change again] and Australia’s Got Talent judging, 2013
Timomatic made a return to reality TV in 2013, but on the other side of the stage, as a judge. Timomatic appeared alongside Kyle Sandilands, Geri Halliwell and Dawn French.
Lastly, one funny moment in the Timomatic history books was when he, for some bizarre reason, changed his stage name to birth-name Tim Omaji. No one really knew why, but in 2017, he changed it back. Might I say – thank god for that. And, thank god for Timomatic. Our hero. Australian of the Year worthy – I think yes.
