UPDATE 04/06: Bon Iver have released the two new songs, check them out below!
Bon Iver appear to be teasing something big, with the indie-rock group sharing a bunch of exciting news to their fans in London recently.
On Sunday night, Bon Iver served as one of the big name acts at London’s All Points East festival. Having kicked off a run of European dates just last week, this festival show happened to serve up some rather interesting moments for fans.
Predominantly consisting of tracks from 2016’s 22, A Million, the performance was closed out by two new Bon Iver tracks being shared over the P.A., which Justin Vernon confirmed would be featured on the group’s new album.
While ‘Hey Ma’ and ‘U’ rung out throughout the crowd (with the latter having being played sporadically over the last year), a website address was flashed upon the screen at the rear of the stage, instructing fans to visit “icommai.com”.

While a new album hasn’t officially been announced yet, a visit over to the aforementioned website features a post shared on June 2nd that lists a number of collaborators, including Moses Sumney, The National’s Bryce Dessner, Bruce Hornsby, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and Psymun, just to name a few.
As it stands, Bon Iver’s last record was 2016’s 22, A Million, which featured a marked shift in the band’s sound. Eschewing acoustic instrumentation, the record showed off more of a folktronica sound, undoubtedly dividing some fans, but earning the band almost unanimous praise from critics across the board.
However, the record is also known for its infamous listening parties, which saw a series of worldwide events taking place. One of these took place in a Melbourne alleyway, and resulted in a number of people listening to the new record as it was played through a cassette boombox – undoubtedly resulting in numerous “hipster” jokes for decades to come.
Whatever the case, it appears that we’ll soon be hearing brand new music from Bon Iver before too long.
UPDATE 04/06: Bon Iver have officially released their two new songs, ‘Hey, Ma’ and ‘U (Man Like)’.
Speaking of the new songs and their expanded list of collaborators, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon explained that “This project began with a single person, but throughout the last 11 years, the identity of Bon Iver has bloomed and can only be defined by the faces in the ever growing family we are.”
Check out the new tracks below.
