Gab Strum is sure to be a name you’ve heard over the last few years, whether it be under performing moniker Japanese Wallpaper, or the songwriter and producer behind some of your favourite tracks.
The producer, songwriter and artist in his own right has clocked up millions of Spotify streams on his own tracks, as well as songs with Allday, Ceres and more. His career received a boost when he took out triple j’s Unearthed High competition, all the way back in 2014 as a teenager.
But now, Japanese Wallpaper, AKA Gab Strum is set to expand his reach after picking up a publishing deal with leading independent publisher Native Tongue. This news comes the same day Strum releases the new Japanese Wallpaper tack ‘Imaginary Friends’.
On the brand new deal, Native Tongue Managing Director Jamie Gough explained Strum had been on their radar since 2013.
“We’ve been fans ever since and are really happy Gab has joined Native Tongue,” Gough explains.
“As Japanese Wallpaper, Gab has delivered a beautiful debut album. He’s also hard at work in his studio co-writing and producing some amazing music, so expect to see Gab Strum in the credits of your new favourite songs,” the Native Tongue head said.
Equally excited, Strum chimed in, “I’m so excited to be working with Native Tongue and together developing my capabilities as a producer and writer.”
Strum concludes, “I can’t wait for what the future holds.”
Japanese Wallpaper’s brand new song ‘Imaginary Friends’ is out now, via Wonderlick/Sony. His new full-length record is on track for release later in 2019.
