Canadian punk outfit announce Fucked Up Aussie headline tour

It’s been a few years between drinks, but now Canadian hardcore punk outfit Fucked Up are set to make their long-awaited return to Australia later this year with a run of headline shows.

Back at the end of May, the annual Yours & Owls festival revealed that their 2019 lineup was set to feature a raft of talented names, including Canadian punk icons Fucked Up.

First forming in 2001, the group found themselves a devoted fanbase thanks in part to their intense, immersive sound, and also their controversial name. By 2009, they had come to mainstream recognition, winning the prestigious Polaris Music Prize for their second album, The Chemistry Of Common Life.

As the years went on, the band finally found their way to Australia in 2011 for that year’s Soundwave Festival, before returning later in the year to act as a support for the Foo Fighters.

Following further appearances with Soundwave in 2013 and 2015, the group have been sadly absent from Aussie stages for quite some time. Now, they’ve unleashed a run of headline shows to complement their upcoming Yours & Owls set.

Touring in support of their fifth album, 2018’s Dose Your Dream, Fucked Up are set to perform three high-energy sideshows at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel, Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory, and Brisbane’s Crowbar this October.

But the excitement doesn’t end there, with Melbourne trio LOSER coming along for the ride. Consisting of Tim Maxwell, Chris Cowburn, Craig Selak, this accomplished three-piece are set to ensure crowds are nice and warmed up for Fucked Up as they deliver their slick alt-rock gems.

Tickets to Fucked Up’s first Aussie shows since 2015 go on sale from 10am local time on Tuesday, August 6th, with a Frontier Touring pre-sale running for 24 hours from 12pm AEST on Thursday, August 1st.
