Brisbane’s 4ZZZ radio station is set to honour the hard-working folks behind the community radio that Australians tune into every day.

Have you ever found yourself heading along to see a local act performing their stunning tunes live? If so, there’s probably a fair chance that they managed to find themselves in that position thanks to the power of community radio.

Reaching nearly six million listeners every week, Australians adore tuning into community radio to hear the up-and-coming artists who will soon be stars of the scene.

With community radio stations around the country nurturing aspiring artists, it’s often the place you’ll hear your new favourites for the very first time, with some of the best acts from CBAA’s Amrap’s (Australian Music Radio Airplay Project) AirIt music distribution service showing up in Tone Deaf’s fortnightly article series.

Now, Brisbane’s 4ZZZ is teaming up with Amrap to present Sounds Like Community Radio, a live broadcast featuring some of the finest Aussie artists on the scene today, hosted by the people who help bring their music to you each week.

Featuring live performances from The Goon Sax, Tralala Blip, Laura Imbruglia, Huntly, Emily Wurramara, McKisko, Gordon Koang, and DRMNGNOW, it’s bound to be a stellar celebration of local music.

It doesn’t end there though, with 4ZZZ opening their doors to allow folks to take a tour of the station, while giving the opportunity to chat with radio Music Directors from Triple R, 2SER, SYN, PBS, Edge Radio, and of course, 4ZZZ.

It’s a great opportunity for local artists to network, or for music fans to kick back and listen to some of the finest tunes going around on one of Australia’s most vital musical resources; community radio.
