SandTunes, Australia’s biggest two-day music festival on the beach, is returning, and this year they’ve brought an absolutely stellar lineup, which includes six incredibly iconic female performers who you cannot miss.

Located on Coolangatta Beach, SandTunes is Queensland’s answer to the age-old question of “How can we make music festivals fun again?” And this year, it seems, is no exception to the rule, with artists coming from all across the globe to grace us with their unabashed talent.

We’ve gathered the six female icons performing at SandTunes this year into one place, so you can be well-prepared to see them live on Saturday 30th November – Sunday 1st December this year. The talent is overwhelming, so hold onto your bucket hats and sunscreen, this one’s a doozy.

1. Carly Rae Jepsen

By now, pop legend Carly Rae Jepsen needs absolutely no introduction. Having released one of the most spectacular albums of the year so far, which has even been made into an experimental noise remake by fans, it’s no mystery that Carly is Dedicated to the craft of iconic tunes.

And better yet, the pop sensation barely ever comes to visit us Down Under, so revel in this golden opportunity while you can.

2. Lauren Mayberry from Chvrches

Once again, no introduction needed. Chvrches are essentially a household name at this point, all thanks to the bright and powerful vocal talents of frontwoman Lauren Mayberry. Bursting onto the scene with The Bones of What You Believe, and keeping up that momentum right into 2019, Chvrches cannot be missed, with their unique brand of glittery pop on offer for your entertainment.

3. Sampa The Great

Sampa The Great has reached her final form, and she’s here to show you exactly what it’s like to perfect yourself to the nth degree. Sampa is not only one of the best Australian acts around at the moment, but she’s also one of the greatest rappers out worldwide, period.

With an album on the way and a performance at Glastonbury just completed, Sampa is ready to conquer. Witness the greatness live for yourself, and become initiated.

4. Kaiit

Legends on legends on legends. Kaiit is the neo-soul prodigy that Australia has been waiting for for years now, as we look over the water at international talent, waiting for some of our own.

Kaiit fills that lust for addictive soul music with perfect precision. And it’s no surprise she opened for SZA in July, given the striking similarities in their talent.

On top of this, Kaiit was the 2019 National Indigenous Music Awards New Talent of the Year. It’s only up from here for this iconic artist.

5. Tkay Maidza

Tkay came to flex on everyone, and she will not apologise for one second. Performing with Charli XCX during her 2018 tour and making a name for herself across the globe, Tkay Maidza is someone who needs to be seen live at all costs. She brings the energy, brings the talent, and not only excels at the rap game, but can also sing any tune you throw her way (see the gorgeous ‘White Rose’ for reference.)

6. Alice Ivy

Alice Ivy just teamed up with Ecca Vandal to create an absolute bop, and by now you’ve probably heard it all over the place. ‘In My Mind’ is infectious, much like most of Alice Ivy’s discography. This act is going to be incredible, if you can handle the sheer amount of female talent coming your way.

While this is one of the most incredible and diverse groups of female icons to perform at an Australian festival in forever, don’t forget though that these women only make up some of the lineup.

With Travis Scott, Logic, Juice Wrld, Cub Sport and so many more also performing at SandTunes 2019, the inaugural event is going to be a wild one.

A lot of these acts, Travis Scott especially, very rarely come by to Australia, so if you want to see their incredible live talent in person, now is your chance.
