Alexa play ‘Unsainted’, tonight we are celebrating Slipknot making history.

Coming in as absolutely no surprise to anyone, Slipknot’s brand new album We Are Not Your Kind, has become the first metal album to reach No.1 in the U.K. in four years. Slipknot’s brand new 2019 output came out on August 9th, and already has seen some massive global success on the charts. Our masks go off to them.

The last metal album to reach No.1 in the U.K. was Iron Maiden’s 2015 album Book of Souls, which means that Slipknot has officially taken back the crown. Another exciting fact is that We Are Not Your Kind has also knocked off Ed Sheeran’s No. 6 Collaborations Project right off the top of the charts. Sheeran had been holding the top spot for four consecutive weeks now, but it’s Slipknots time on the throne.

So hold off on smashing your Alexa with a bat, it’s time to rejoice.

We Are Not Your Kind is Slipknot’s first No.1 album in the U.K. since their highly praised sophomore album Iowa, which was released many moons ago in 2001. That’s 18 entire years since Slipknot has seen any kind of U.K. chart-topping, and now they have finally returned. Allegedly of the 31,000 reported U.K. sales, 25,000 of those were physical while the rest were from downloads and streams. So keep up the support brits.

The brand new album is also projected to debut at No.1 in the good old United States of America, which will be confirmed as of next week.

While we wait for news of more Slipknot successes, enjoy an absolutely incredible song from their latest album. It was hard to choose just one from the sprawling 14-track-long list, but nobody is going to complain about a little ‘Critical Darling’.
