Norwegian sonic wonder girl in red is set to make her Australian debut as part of Spotify’s out of this world Front Left live event happening in Melbourne. Now, it’s been confirmed she’ll extend her stay to make her mark on Sydney with one very special headline show.
girl in red is testament to the power of the internet in 2019. From her bedroom in Norway, Marie Ulven has mad sounds that have now been heard across the world. Using dreamy, droney soundscapes, girl in red has carved out her own unique niche within the world of lo-fi production and as a result, pricked up ears the world over, all within the time it too for us to get our heads around her debut EP, chapter 1.
Released in 2018, chapter 1 won over hearts and minds as an endearing and masterful debut from the twenty-one-year-old. The release contained gems including i want to be your girlfriend and summer depression, both receiving a well-earned flog through airwaves and Air Pods.
With millions of active listeners, now is not the time for girl in red to chill, and she’s done the exact opposite. Already this year, the wunderkind has released 4 singles including dead girl in the pool and i’ll die anyway. All the tracks are highly indicative of an artist quickly grasping their own unique soundscape.
While girl in red might be here for a good time rather than a long time, it’s clear already that the Front Left performance, and the headline show, will be merely introductions with an artist who is sure to find a strong fan base with us Aussies. You can sample girl in red’s wears below and be warned, it’s probably not a good idea to put off buying your tickets.
