The hype over Rex Orange county has reached fever-pitch levels over the last 18 months.
After a huge touring cycle off the back of LP Apricot Princess, things have been on the constant up for the singer, real name Alexander O’Connor, and now he’s made an incredible BBC Live Lounge debut.
The British version of Like A Version has seen some pretty sweet covers of late, although this latest offering by O’Connor might just take the cake.
O’Conner performed a stirring full band version of new single 10/10 with his live band, in anticipation of his new record due out next month, but it was his cover that (rightfully) stole the show.
Going solo, the singer took on the pop mega-hit I Don’t Care, by little known singers Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber, resulting in a beautifully tender late-night lullaby.
Like any good cover, O’Conner brought his own down-to-earth flavour to the tune, with the final result sounding like one of his own compositions. Check it out below.

O’Conner’s new LP Pony is set for release on October 25th, with a stack of international dates being announced to support the release.
