The final puzzle pieces are beginning to come together as we anticipate the release of Foals’ new record, Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2.

October 18th is when Foals are releasing the second half of the Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost project and from it, we’ve been able to get an idea of what to expect in singles ‘Black Bull’ and ‘The Runner’.

Today, Foals have gifted fans with another taste of the new album in the striking and beautifully melancholic, ‘Into The Surf’.

The song is one to sink into, harking back to earlier Total Life Foreverera in some ways. Yannis Philippakis’ vocals haunt, threading their way throughout a hazy, expansive arrangement.

Giving a further insight into the single to DIY recently, Yannis talked about the inspiration for ‘Into The Surf’.

“There’s this shadow of death, someone not returning from a voyage.” he said.

“There’s a type of Greek folk song that’s always to do with the immigration of Greek people and how dying on foreign shores is always viewed as the worst fate – to die far away from your home and family. ‘Surf Pt 1’ is a chop out of a part of ‘Into The Surf’ and I thought it was nice to have that link as a tease.”
