He’s apparently been sober and clean for 16 years, but that still hasn’t stopped Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh from wanting to be a drug and alcohol advisor to the Victorian Government. In a bizarre article in the Sunday Herald-Sun, the clearly addled former wild child reckons he’s got the goods to offer the best advice on drug and alcohol addiction to Victorian Premier John Brumby. “I’d love to speak to leaders and politicians in Melbourne, and around Australia, about addiction,” he said. Addiction is a disease and, with help, people can get back to being responsible members of the community. I hope to give your leaders that message.” One wonders if all the 40 and 50 something lawyers and accountants who are paying up to $1000 a ticket to see his band in December will be heeding his message as they light up a sneaky joint before they head in to a gig.
