Céline Dion’s brand new album Courage has seated itself at the top of the charts, earning the renowned superstar her fifth ever chart-topping album in her lengthy career.
Pop superstar Céline Dion debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with her new studio album Courage. The project, which was released on Nov. 15 via Columbia Records, earned 113,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Nov. 20 in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music.
Courage rests as Dion’s fifth No. 1 album ever, and her first chart-topping album in over 17 years. The last time Céline Dion was at No. 1 was with 2002’s A New Day Has Come, which was so long ago we can barely remember what the world was even like back then..
Courage is also Dion’s first English-language studio album since 2013’s Loved Me Back to Life, which debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 (dated Nov. 23, 2013).
And the album isn’t without its notable achievements. Thanks to Courage, Dion is able to achieve a feat that very few artists have achieved. With No. 1s in the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s, Dion has now collected No. 1 albums in each of the last three decades. She’s just the 13th act, and the fourth woman, to achieve the feat. The others: Backstreet Boys, Garth Brooks, Dave Matthews Band, Janet Jackson, Jay-Z, Metallica, Nas, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, Britney Spears and more.
Currently, apart from topping the charts, Courage has also seen widespread praise from even the harshest of critics, with some even labelling it a defining moment in the gorgeously coined Celinaissance.
Reborn again from the fire, the Courage shows a side of Dion that the people have been yearning for. The Dion we catch glimpses of in interviews and on red carpets, who is here for a fun time with not a care in the world. You can stream Courage now on all streaming platforms.
