The 2020 tour from the Pixies has just gotten a whole lot bigger, with the iconic alt-rock outfit revealing two local supports for next year’s run of shows.

Just a few months ago, the Aussie music world was stunned to learn that that alternative legends the Pixies would be bringing their Come On Pilgrim… It’s Surfer Rosa tour down to our shores.

What does this mean exactly? Well, in addition to being the band’s first Australian shows since 2017, these dates would see the band performing their iconic releases Come On Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa in full.

Chuck in a bunch of other classic tracks between it all, and you’ve got one setlist that doubles as not only a great night out, but an education in alt-rock.

With the group hitting up Australia in just a couple of months, they’ve now revealed just who will be accompanying them at these gigs, with a pair of local legends warming up the crowd.

Kicking things off at all Aussie shows will be RVG, the four-piece Melbourne outfit formally referred to as the Romy Vager Group.

With a post-punk, neo-psych sound to their music, RVG has been making a name for themselves all over the world thanks to tracks like ‘A Quality Of Mercy’ and recent single ‘Alexandra’.

For those over in Sydney though, they’ll get an extra treat with Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever joining the bill.

Also hailing from Melbourne, the eclectic outfit have found themselves with an international following thanks to their “tough pop/soft punk” sound, having signed with iconic label Sub Pop for their last two releases.

If you’re keen to catch the seminal rock icons live next year, you might want to act now. With most of their shows sold out, only performances in Brisbane and Sydney have tickets remaining, though they’re selling fast. Check out all the details below!
