In sad news, Tasmania’s beloved Party In The Paddock has announced that the 2020 instalment of the festival will be its last. For nine years the festival has been bringing the brightest acts to Northern Tasmania for a rollicking good time.
What started as a celebration for founder Jesse Higgs’ 21st birthday — which saw the stages built from hay bales— grew into a monolith festival staple, welcoming 8,000 patrons in 2018.
One of the hardest decisions of our lives, it feels like we’re saying goodbye to a dear old friend, a loved one… like we’re putting down the family dog… But we’ve had to be really honest with ourselves. All things – no matter how special – must at some point come to an end, and we want the most special project of our lives to go out on top. We believe that PITP is at the top of it’s game and ‘only the good die young’,” Vibestown Production shared in a statement.
The festival has already announced it’s chock-a-block lineup, lead by legends Matt Corby, Hermitude, Dune Rats, Broods, Cosmo’s Midnight, Jack River, Sneaky Sound System and more. In absolutely delicious, the team have dropped that they plan on inviting back a coupla festival faves from over the years. “Oh and by the way… We’re inviting a few special guests back to help us celebrate.”
“For one last time,” Party In The Paddock shared in a statement, “We want to put on, for you (our friends), the best #%!* PITP in history… We’re gonna snip those fences and make room for every single person that’s ever been to a Paddock!!! PITP 2020 – The Grand Finale’ – You’ve been warned our friends, don’t miss a part of Tasmanian history. We’ve only got a couple’ thousand left, get moving.”
You’re not going to want to miss out on this momentous celebration. Find the full lineup below.
