The slow rollout for the new Tame Impala album is well and truly underway, with Kevin Parker unveiling his latest single, ‘Posthumous Forgiveness’.
Just over a month ago, fans were met with a cryptic video from Tame Impala which seemed to hint that a new record was on the way. Thankfully, we didn’t have too long to wait before we received word that The Slow Rush will arrive in February of 2020.
From there, things just kept getting better. While we’d already heard singles like ‘Borderline’ and the non-album track ‘Patience’, Kevin Parker decided to treat us with another new track, ‘It Might Be Time’.
“The way the song ended up sounding is the last thing I thought it would sound like,” Parker explained to Zane Lowe of Apple Music’s Beats 1. “It was a ‘see where it goes’ kind of thing, as opposed to some other songs where I literally hear it in my head before I start recording.
“I love those Supertramp melodies, ’70s prog emotional things. But I also love extremely distorted, bombastic, blown-out drums. I feel like I haven’t done a song in a long time where the drums are the main feature.”
Now we’ve been treated to another epic Tame Impala track, with the six-minute ‘Posthumous Forgiveness’ dropping earlier today.
A highly personal track, the tune sees Kevin Parker holding a one-sided conversation with his late father as hazy synths, pounding drums, and slick guitarwork bolster the tune’s almost hypnotic nature.

As the tune tends to a close, the lyrics appear to soften, with the emotion levels rising as Parker appears to look towards his father for an outlet with which to discuss his life and music.
If this tune is sounding a little familiar to you, then you might recall hearing a preview back on Instagram earlier this year, just prior to Tame Impala’s Saturday Night Live debut.
