The 2020 Oscars will feature more music than previous years, with performances no longer limited to acts nominated in the Best Original Song category. With the award ceremony airing tomorrow in Australia, let’s take a look at all the music on show.

Billie Eilish

Hot on the heels of her breakout 2019, Billie Eilish‘s performance is arguably the most anticipated of the night. It’s unclear what she will sing, but punters are speculating that it may be the title song from the upcoming Bond film, No Time To Die. Eilish is the youngest artist to have written a song for the franchise, and could premiere it at tomorrow’s Academy Awards.

Elton John

Elton’s biopic, Rocketman, came out a fair few months before most of the Oscar season heavyweights. That didn’t stop it receiving a nomination for Best Original Song, however. John will perform “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” at the award ceremony.

Idina Menzel

Broadway superstar Idina Menzel is set to perform “Into The Unknown” from Frozen 2. Menzel, who plays Elsa on screen, will be joined by nine other women, all of whom voiced the character in international versions of the film.

Cynthia Erivo

Another Broadway star, Erivo recently appeared as the title character in Harriet Tubman biopic, Harriet. She’ll perform “Stand Up” at the Oscars, which is nominated in the Best Original Song category.

Randy Newman

Best known as Pixar’s go-to songwriter, Newman is once again nominated for Best Original Song. His song from Toy Story 4, “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away”, is on the Oscars setlist.

Janelle Monae

Like Billie Eilish, Monae isn’t a nominee, but her songs have featured in a range of Oscar favourites over the years. Most recently, she played a supporting role in Harriet, with Best Original Song nominee Cynthia Erivo in the lead.
