Lana Del Rey has cancelled at least eight confirmed shows at the very last minute. The US star was scheduled to play a series of arenas in the UK and Europe this month, but cited illness in making the last minute scratchings.

Del Rey hit the road in September following the release of her critically adored album Norman Fucking Rockwell! She wrapped a 20-date tour of North America in November and has since played just one show, on November 30 at du Arena in Abu Dhabi.

The Norman Fucking Rockwell! tour’s European leg was scheduled to begin today, February 21, at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome. The eight show trip would finish up on March 3 at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, with stops in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham, as well as Paris and Berlin.

However, BBC reports that Del Rey has canceled the entire European portion of the tour. “Sorry to let everyone down so last minute but this illness has taken me by surprise and have totally lost my singing voice,” said Del Rey. “The doctor has advised four weeks off for the moment. I hate to let everyone down but I need to get well. Love Lana.”

So far no information has surfaced concerning rescheduling. Del Rey is still expected to appear at a number of European and North American festivals mid-year. That includes Coachella, Primavera Sound and Bonnaroo.

In January, Del Rey announced she was delaying the release of the spoken word album Violet. The record is supposedly a companion piece to the upcoming poetry collection Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass. It was due for release on January 4, but there’s still no sign.
