Much-loved Aussie music quiz show, Spicks & Specks, airs its 1990s special tonight at 7:40pm on ABC. Tonight’s episode is the second in the current series of specials, following November’s AusMusic show. Original host Adam Hills will once again join forces with team captains Myf Warhust & Alan Brough in a night of ’90s throwbacks and trivia.
ABC reported that specials focusing on the 2000s and 2010s will follow the 1990s episode later in the year. The original cast are excited to be working together once again.
“From the moment Alan, Myf and I were together in a room for last year’s Spicks and Specks Reunion Special, we had each other in fits of laughter,” Adam Hills said in a statement.
“Any time I can spend with those two fools is time well spent, and if it takes four more specials to make that happen – so be it…Spicks and Specks has a special place in our hearts, and I’m genuinely excited to make a few more specials for the ABC.”
No Substitute for the best
Spicks & Specks first aired between 2005 and 2011, during ABC’s illustrious Wednesday night programming. Nestled amongst The Gruen Transfer and The Chaser’s War On Everything, the quiz show won over thousands of Australians during its original run. Since then, Spicks & Specks has had a sporadic on-screen life, with a failed reboot and only a handful of specials to its name.
However, in the years since its original run, Spicks & Specks alumni Alan Brough, Adam Hills and Myf Warhurst have kept busy. These days, Hills is best known for hosting UK panel show, The Last Leg, while Brough has forged a successful career as a children’s author. Warhurst was most recently seen onscreen in season 6 of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! and continues to maintain a strong presence in Australia’s radio and TV industries.
