Doing what they can to help out in the midst of a global pandemic, Megadeth bassist David Ellefson has shared new single ‘Simple Truth’ with proceeds benefitting the Italian Red Cross in its COVID-19 relief efforts.
Esteemed heavy metal bassist David Ellefson of Megadeth revealed that his single ‘Simple Truth’ has dropped a few days early. Part of his solo project simply named Ellefson, the song wasn’t supposed to come out until later this week as part of his eponymous EP.
Taking to Facebook, Ellefson noted that he released this single early, and that it was going to be benefitting the Italian Red Cross in their efforts to fight the COVID-19 global pandemic. As Italy caught a massive brunt of the virus, their medical efforts saw them exhausted, and in need of some sustenance.
“So we decided to drop the ‘Simple Truth’ single a couple days early! Check it out now on Bandcamp!”, Ellefson stated. “Available either as a single, or an EP, including the Max Norman mix of Sleeping Giants track ‘Vultures’,” as well as “live versions of ‘Vultures’ and ‘If You Were God’.”
As the latter two were recorded live in Milan, Italy, Ellefson decided that the Italian Red Cross is who should benefit from the proceeds, noting “all proceeds from the ‘Simple Truth’ single, and any additional donations over the purchase price of the single, will go to the Croce Rossa Italiana – Italian Red Cross and their COVID-19 relief efforts!”
In addition to dropping this electrifying song, Ellefson has also began his initiative of ‘School’s Out’ – a free, online school for music students to learn alongside some of the greatest musicians in the metal world.
Furthermore, the ‘Simple Truth’ single is set to hit all other means of digital outfits via Combat Records on the 17th of April.
